Tolo TV in Afghanistan

Bamyan Media is a social enterprise that internationally distributes and produces a popular reality TV competition designed to promote social entrepreneurship.

We work with local partners to develop each series, providing them with a unique turnkey package of materials and support:

  • Production Expertise: In-country oversight of implementation and coordination of production know-how, training of crew and judges, and upholding of production quality
  • Format Manual: Flexible treatment and plot development, adaptable to cultural context, but centered around sustainable criteria and dramatic story line
  • Partnerships: Links to local and international organizations that assist with technical support tailored for all levels of contestants; access to capital and resources;
    and assistance with series development, team training, and outreach to applicants
  • Materials: Implementation tool-box, operations manual, information kits, templates, training workshops, educational outreach media, plus access to multimedia/internet platform
  • Sponsors: Access to global and local level funding from corporate sponsors, local banks, micro-finance institutions, and international donors

In some territories, Bamyan Media licenses the series, whereas in others it leverages grant funding from foundations and aid agencies to accelerate distribution in the developing world. As the series is reproduced, Bamyan generates revenue from licensing, co-production, corporate sponsors and from the sale of implementing materials, training, and consulting services.
